Skin sensitization is defined as “the ability of a substance to cause a hypersensitivity reaction when in contact with the skin.
Skin sensitisers can cause hypersensitivity reactions such as allergic contact dermatitis when in contact with the skin. These reactions may manifest themselves with symptoms such as redness, itching, swelling, blisters and dryness of the skin. In some cases, skin sensitization may develop and become permanent as a result of prolonged exposure.
