Isolated Intermediates

Under the KKDIK Regulation, isolated intermediates are substances that are manufactured for the production of another substance and are consumed or transformed during the chemical process.

Unlike non-isolated intermediates, they are intentionally removed from the reaction process at a certain stage and handled under strictly controlled conditions.

Isolated intermediates are classified into two categories:

  • Transported isolated intermediates – Manufactured at one facility and transported to another for further processing, while remaining subject to strictly controlled conditions during transport and use.
  • On-site isolated intermediates – Manufactured and used within the same facility under strictly controlled conditions throughout their lifecycle.
